Friday at noon. The apartment is locked, the phone is full of messages, and on Sunday morning you are trying to remember whether the plaster finished or only looked finished, whether the material for Monday is already paid, and whether the electrician promised to come or only said we will try. A week without a close is a week you pay for twice: once in the work, and once in the search.
The daily log catches the day. The week close catches what has to happen next, before the crew scatters. It is not a report for the office. It is a short page that stays on the project.
Five lines before the key
- What actually finished this week, by room or by trade
- What started and did not finish, and what is missing to continue
- Material that was ordered and did not arrive, or arrived and was not counted
- Who comes on the next work day, and at what time
- A client decision that is still open, with the last day
If there is more than one apartment, do the same five lines for each address. Do not mix them. Plaster that finished on Herzl does not close Bialik. The apartment name first, then the lines.
What you do not leave for Sunday
An order for Monday is written on Friday, not from the truck. If a bag of screed or a box of tile is missing, the supplier is closed until Sunday, and the crew goes up to an empty apartment. The same for a subcontractor bill waiting for approval: if the week is clear, write what was approved and what stays out, so on pay day you are not rebuilding the week.
One photo of the state at the end of the week is enough if the line says what you see. A finished wall with no sentence is another photo in the gallery. A finished wall with the line right bedroom, plaster closed, waiting for skim on Monday, is the continuation of the job.
Who reads it on Sunday
If someone else opens the site, the close is what they read before they call you. Without it they ask you from the car, and you answer from memory. With it they see who is coming, what must not be touched, and what the client has not chosen yet.
Ten minutes by the door beat half an hour on Sunday morning. Do not write a story. Write what finished, what is stuck, and who arrives first.
A closed week is a week you can continue. An open week is a week you start by guessing.
