Tomorrow you are on another site, or with a client on a contract. At the Herzl apartment tiling is supposed to continue. The person left in charge was not at yesterday's close, does not know the skirting has not been chosen, and only knows the key is with someone. Without a page, they will call you three times before nine, or they will continue work that must not continue.
Handing a site over for one day is not replacing the manager. It is a list that can be read without you. If the day cannot be run from the list, the day is not ready, and you do not leave until it is written.
What is on the page
- Who arrives, at what time, and at which apartment
- What continues from yesterday, by room
- What is not touched: an open wall, a closed room, material waiting for a check
- Where the key is, and how to get in
- Who to call if material is missing, a person is missing, or the client shows up
A line on what finished yesterday saves a guess. Tiling in the right bedroom is closed, including skirting. The bathroom is waiting for wall tile, do not start it. Whoever arrives in the morning should not have to rebuild that from photos.
What you still hold
A payment to a supplier, a promise to the client, and a decision on an extra do not pass automatically to the person who stays. If one of those must happen tomorrow, write who is allowed to decide, and up to what amount. Without that, either the work stops on you, or someone approves a price you will not stand behind.
The client's number goes on the page, with what may be said. It is fine to say tiling continues. It is not fine to promise a new handover date. A promise made without you is your promise afterwards.
At the end of that day
The person who stayed writes five lines before they lock up: what was done, who was there, what broke or is missing, and what is tomorrow. You read it in the evening, not the next day in front of the crew. If something went outside the page, it is written in a line, not left for a conversation.
The same page works when you are back after two days. It does not replace the daily log. It is the note the log opens from.
A day without you can move forward. It cannot move forward from someone else's memory.
