On site someone says “add that”. Start without a price and an approval, and nobody remembers the deal when the bill comes.

What to write before you start

• Exactly what was added or removed
• Who asked, and when
• A price, or that you are still waiting for a number
• Whether the handover date moves

Save the message, photo, or approval in the project files. A verbal talk is not enough when it is time to get paid.

When to stop

No price and no written OK means you do not start the extra work. Keep going on what was already agreed, and send the change for approval the same day.

When the change sits next to the budget, it is easy to show at the end what was added and what was already paid.
